The debate ‘What hampers freight services’ is the fourth edition of Rail22 cycle and the third event which is part of the official programme of the Trako International Railway Fair in Gdansk. The event is addressed to railway enterprises, exhibitors and guests of the fair, including railway carriers, service organisers, freight forwarders, infrastructure managers, manufacturers of rolling stock, machines and railway equipment, construction sector, service providers, experts and industry scientists, representatives of EU, government and local government administration as well as industry and economy media.
The focal point of this year’s conference is a discussion panel dedicated to the plans for development of the European railway and the possibility of increasing its importance as compared with car transportation. Due to the references to the role of railway in economy, the main topics will include freight services and infrastructure development. As since its very beginning Rail22 cycle has been of international nature, most speakers are foreigners and the debate is held in Polish and is simultaneously interpreted in English.
The conference organiser – Pro Kolej Foundation – is a platform of cooperation of companies, administration, passengers and rail users. Their goal is to contribute to the increase of the significance of rail transportation, protection of customer rights and presentation of needs and expectations of the sector to opinion leaders, media and national and European administration. The organisation is open to anybody who supports its goals and for whom development of rail is a value in itself.
Experience of collaborating companies, experts and the organisation allows to conduct actions on many levels – from a wide debate on the future of transportation, through monitoring of amendments to rail law to work on detailed technical solutions. The areas of activity cover investments in development, safety management and quality of the law that regulates the activity of rail entities.
